Somehow, I hadn’t seen this one before. An interactive billboard for Adobe CS3… Pretty incredible, both from a viewer/interface standpoint, and from the programming point of view. It’s well over a year old (it was part of the CS3 launch… and CS4 is in the wings… so it’s not incredibly new), but it’s incredibly cool, and fairly innovative. It was designed by Brand New School for Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. Billboards at their best.
I’ve seen this one on TV a few times lately, and it just makes me chuckle. I have to admit, I’m getting a bit tired of the Mac vs. PC ads, even though every now and then something breathes some new life into ‘em. I was really hoping that the new Windows ads with Seinfeld would spur some good competitive advertising. Which it has, to an extent. It seems Apple was able to fire back in a simple, succinct, and relatively cheap fashion… which makes me smile a bit. So for the moment, I may be a fan of the Apple ads again.
Wow. Guitar Hero: World Tour. Tony Hawk, Kobe, Micheal Phelps, and A-Rod. Quite the list of celebs. For a video game. I guess that says something about where the big ad money is going… and what’s worth seeking out the top celebs for. Crazy.
A new Pepsi logo. All i can think of when I see it is an airline. It just looks perfect to position on the tail of a 747. I’m not sure what was wrong with the old pepsi logo, and while I see the similarities, this one just looks weird. Even more weird are the Mountain Dew and Gatorade logos (after the jump).
I first read about it the other day at Brand New via Adgoodness and was intrigued. Then Louis was kind enough to make sure I had seen the newest wave of logos from the patent office, including the revised Mt. Dew and Gatorade logos (who decided those were a good idea?!?).
I’m a fan of re-branding, partly because of the attention to the brand it forces those within the company to pay. It gives a reason to truly examine the brand and figure out where it’s going. That being said, I’m not sure that Pepsi really needed to go anywhere. I suppose time will tell… and these are just spec patent graphics, nothing final. But as far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t necessarily bode well for the future of Pepsi co.’s bottles.
Follow the jump to check out all the logos in their redesigned glory [via brand new]
They just keep these sony spots rolling out… although this one is done by a New Zealand agency, Bates 141 – thus not a part of the bouncing balls, paint, and rabbit series. Interesting? I suppose so. Amazing, probably not. It takes a beautiful idea and rehashes it, burning it in the process. Meh.
And just for kicks, incase you’re really bored, here’s their making-of video.
This is pretty bizarre, amazing, cool, genius, revolutionary, strange, unsettling, and overall interesting. Ads pushing a vote, and specifically a vote for Obama, have started appearing in some xBox Live games. According to an AP story, there are nine EA Sports games involved in the xBox Live ad buy, including Burnout:Paradise and Madden ‘09. I particularly enjoyed one of the comments from someone at EA Sports:
“Like political spots on the television networks, these ads do not reflect the political policies of EA or the opinions of its development teams.”
Gotta get those disclaimers in wherever you can. Espceially with this years presidential debate – or so it seems.
I’m not sure why I find this so funny, nor am I sure I should. But I do, and I felt the need to share with you as well. It’s nothing fancy, just a print ad for Kayaking Jumbo Peanuts, done by O&M Indonesia. And i’m still laughing.
Nike has been doing some impressive stuff lately (actually, pretty much since their inception) and recently the Guy Ritchie Nike Football (soccer, for the US readers) spot I wrote about here made some waves. This newest spot follows the same format of making a film-like cinematic-quality spot with the help of some impressive talent. This new Nike Football spot features LaDainian Tomlinson and Troy Polamalu and the infamous directorial skills of David Fincher (of Fight Club fame).
I’m not a huge football fan, and most of the football spots don’t really do much for me. But this one just blows me away… and makes me take a second look at Nike Football. In one, simple (but beautiful) spot.
There are some products that are tough to sell… there are others that are easy… but when you have Sean Connery, it doesn’t really matter. The newest in a series of Louis Vuitton ads previously featuring the likes of Kieth Richards and Francis & Sophia Coppola, this one showcases the former James Bond in his relaxed Bahamian lifestyle. Where will he show up next? [and queue up the SNL Celebrity Jeopardy jokes... it's inevitable]
