In what is dubbed a “collaborative student project,” pro photographer and pro blogger Chase Jarvis spearheaded this little creative project at Gulf Photo Plus in Dubai. You can read many more details at Chase’s website… but for now, enjoy what is an interesting amalgamation of photo, video, music, parkour, and creativity. Sometimes spur of the moment creation can yield some amazing product.
cool stuff on a surprisingly precipitative tuesday in the northwest.
Sorry for such a late Earth Day post… I’ve been fairly busy lately getting ready to move out of state (and I apologize if I haven’t gotten back to people on things… I’m workin on it). Anyway… as anybody who knows me (or reads this blog regularly) knows, I’m a sucker for stop motion. And what better on Earth Day than a bit of stop motion? okay… I’m not really sure what the connection is there either… but it works in my mind, and makes me smile:
From Free Range Studios for Save The Bay. The Save The Bay organization is fairly self-explantory. in honor of Earth Day, check out what they’re up to. Local grassroots movements that turn into organizations drawing national attention is what Earth Day is all about.
Every now and then, there’s just one of this headlines… this morning was one of those days:
I feel bad for the police… and for the monkey. I also particularly enjoy some of the writing of the AP story…like
Salem Police Sgt. John Hardy says he is confident the man and his monkey, who was wearing a diaper, will be found.
And just to be clear, I also feel bad for the girl who was bitten by the monkey, and realize it’s a serious matter. but police looking for a monkey in a diaper just seems so Oregon. Fitting that it’s in the state capitol.
The push Samsung has been making to get their LED TV technology promoted is pretty impressive. I keep seeing this hummingbird everywhere… including print ads for other companies like Fry’s Electronics. And I have to say, for some reason, this mechanical LED hummingbird really freaks me out. Reminds me of Mechagodzilla. or something. And I’m not a fan. That being said, the TV spots, hummingbirds aside, are exquisitely beautiful. But that bird makes me never want to buy a Samsung TV.
I’m a sucker for stop motion. And this is pretty amazing. one of the best uses of stop motion, story telling, place, spacial relationships, and a whole slew of other things my mind just can’t quite wrap itself around. Reminds me of David Hockney taken to a whole new level. This has definitely been the best four minutes of my day thus far. And check out dokugyunyu’s youtube page for more awesome stop motion.
Automotive advertising is no stranger to occasionally blatantly competitive marketing techniques… but this one just may take the proverbial cake – or the King, if you will.
Happy Easter to all those celebrating today (and chag sameach to all those celebrating Passover as well… I don’t want any of my posts to seem exclusive!). This piece entitled “Easter AIG Hunt” from stencil artist Above seemed depressingly poignant, and made me smile a bit.
via the always fascinating WoosterCollective. If you want more close up shots, check out the video clip that goes with it over at Above’s Vimeo page.
I have to admit, it’s hard not to be a fan of The King and the entire Burger King campaign that eminates from him. But this really takes the proverbial cake and breathes endless life back into The King. Something about Sir Mix-A-Lot just adds a whole new dimension to the entire campaign. Which I’m digging. And if you haven’t seen it, you MUST follow the jump to check out the Full 2:30 version. I’ll never hear Baby Got Back the same way ever again.
turning a subway into an art gallery is such a simple idea, yet it’s done cleanly and just well enough to create that bit of confusion that makes their stuff so powerful.
I’ve always been a fan of ads that poke a bit of fun at advertising trends… and this one just might take the cake. I’m not sure I completely get the connection between “fake” and the Mini Clubman yet… maybe it will reveal itself in time. or maybe not. either way, this one definitely made me smile. and a solid use of YouTube and “the viral.”
