So Wieden + Kennedy London has come out with the newest spot/extravaganzarama, and it’s certainly an interesting one. You may remember W+K and Honda from Cog and Choir, both which were of epic and theatrical proportions. This new spot is different, leaving some critics seemingly disappointed and displeased. I, on the other hand, am thrilled with it. While the other spots were promoting standard Honda fare like the Accord, this newest spot, “Problem Playground,” is promoting the FCX from Honda, their fuel cell system. If the spot was identical to others, it wouldn’t feel right.
There’s just something about the atmosphere, the soundtrack, the orchestration, and the general feel that I really like. It’s not grandeous, which seems fitting. I also absolutely love the final tag of “Isn’t every problem a playground?” It really captures it all perfectly and wraps up the spot itself, but keeps the question open. And as always, the companion website, Problemplayground.com is just as cool.
